The Idea

The idea for this app came about when my wife and I were trying to come up with a meal plan for the upcoming week. We would just sit there some days trying to think up the last item to put down, forgetting all the many dinner ideas we can actually make. Sometimes I would just start listing out the different dinner ideas until my wife heard something she liked. This is when I thought, I could make an app that would have all the dinner ideas and be able to cycle through them in order to save my voice.

Decisive Wife

With Decisive Wife you create a list of ideas of meals you eat for dinner. These can be meals you cook or restaurants to either dine in or get take out from. You can then use these ideas to fill in the meal plan either manually or by using the randomizer button. The Ask Sheri button is a quick way of getting a single random idea from your list which you can use over and over again.

The labels feature allows you to identify similar dinner ideas in order to help the randomizer suggest different ideas everyday. For example, if you have the dinner ideas of Cheese Burgers and Beef Tacos labeled as Beef. Then added the Beef label to Tuesday, then the only suggestions the randomizer will give you for Tuesday are Cheese Burgers and Beef Tacos.

For shoppers who like using their phone for their grocery list but have been having difficulty unlocking to see the list because of wearing a mask or gloves, I have created a Today View extension for Decisive Wife that allows you to access the grocery list without having to unlock your phone. The Today View can be accessed from the lock screen by swiping to the right.

I would like to thank my own indecisive wife for the inspiration behind creating this app, my sisters for helping to test and giving feedback. Lastly I would like to thank my grandfather who helped put me through college and who made me feel like I could do anything.
